01-06-2025  -  From June 17 to 22, daMargherita returns, the annual event in an iconic place in Catanzaro, Villa Trieste, which this year too will be transformed into a lively public space for meeting and sharing aimed at all generations. Talks and book presentations in the afternoon, DJ sets at sunset, music and cinema under the stars: a multidisciplinary and varied container that, in its seventh edition, takes the form of a “festival” through a six-day calendar in search of new trends and cultural connections.
While waiting to reveal the full program, within daMargherita there will be a moment that perfectly sums up the concept of the event: Letteraturap, the format created by Alessio Mariani – aka Murubutu, rapper, teacher, and storyteller, capable of transforming poetry, history, and philosophy into music. On June 18, he will be the protagonist of a talk straddling genres, to reflect on the expressive and educational potential of rap, among readings, thoughts, and a cappella performances. A fascinating journey, of words and music, in which rap, narrative, and poetry are combined, from the dolce stil novo to the contemporary novel.
Drawing on his experience in the youth world, both as a teacher and as an established rapper, Murubutu will be in Catanzaro – his only date in the South – to retrace the genesis and evolution of rap in Italy, highlighting its intrinsic and extrinsic literary components, expressive peculiarities, and the stages of development from the 90s to the new linguistic codes of trap. Murubutu carries forward a reflection on the possible dialogue between school content and the expressive potential of rap music, giving life to Educational Rap, thanks to the expressive and artistic qualities of the genre and to crucial themes, such as the relationship between artistic freedom and ethical responsibility. As a solo artist, his discography consists of eight albums entirely dedicated to storytelling in which classic hip hop sounds serve as a backdrop to lyrics with a strong singer-songwriter, poetic, and literary vein, including the album Infernvm (2020), inspired by Dante’s Comedy and created in collaboration with rapper Claver Gold.
All updates on the festival can be found on the daMargherita Facebook and Instagram social channels.
